1 of 3 pieces I painted on site in the Mojave Desert between first light and sunrise. In this brief period of the morning, the desert colors exude vibrance. The ground becomes alive with hues of peach, coral, salmon and fuchsia. Once the sun breaks the horizon, the desert simmers down to the muted earth tones we see most often.
